A special note on WordPress migration

A WordPress site migration is an easy task if performed properly. There are three different migration scenarios:

  • Migrate site from a subdirectory of a domain to the root directory
  • Migrate site from a local installation to a remote installation
  • Migrate site between domains or hosts

Backup Guard Pro helps you to migrate in all of these cases in the smoothest possible way. You just have to Backup your site and Restore it in the new location. No additional work will be required, since we handle all changes for you.

The issues that users always deal with are: wrong site url, images don’t load, dashboard not accessible, permalinks don’t work and more.

Backup Guard Pro will help you to skip all these problems, because of its advanced refactoring and migrating engine.

How to fix “MySQL server has gone away” error?

While restoring your database you may encounter “MySQL server has gone away” warning. There are generally two main causes for this error: 1) the server timed out and closed the connection and 2) server dropped an incorrect or too large packet.
To fix the issue you will have to contact your hosting provider and ask them increase the size of these two values: max_allowed_packet & wait_timeout

Destroyed Site, had to pay to get it fixed!

You can only backup to dropbox which only allows very limited free storage anymore, for anything else you must pay. The worst part is that the plugin claims to migrate your site & that it will know to change the links to the new site except it didn't, it made an EXACT copy so all the links on my test site were redirecting to my live site. I then had to go back into my PHP to fix that & if THAT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH, during the process it said there was something wrong with some tables that needed repair so I allowed it... well guess what, IT STRIPPED ALL MY ADMIN ROLES! I had to get my host to go back in & recreate a new admin role just so I could access my site. While all this was going on I paid for the pro version & it TOOK MORE THAN 4 DAYS before I gave up & hired someone else to fix all the problems their plugin caused! Finally they ended up refunding the cost of the pro version but didn't have the decency to leave the license in tact for the year I signed up considering all they put me through & the cost associated with cleaning up the mess which was well over the cost of the plugin in the first place. ALL THAT SAID... I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST AVOIDING THIS PLUGIN & DEVELOPER.

Seems good but…

Very easy to use and seems good, but if your site is down then you usually can't get to your site or WordPress - which means you have no way to use the backup to restore the site. For example - the WordPress login is one of the php files that will almost always get infected. This means any attempt to login to WP so you can do a restore is fruitless. I don't get it - it seems like a fatal flaw. What am I missing? I make sure I download the backup then use SGBP Extractor to extract the contents. I will use WinSCP to restore the files once I get FTP access back up. It's like a product that saves a backup of your email password in your email...

Excellent

Been using this for about 3 weeks now, its the easiest to use and never fails me. Thank you.

Nice’n easy

Handy tool, for a little WCommerce shop like us. Only basic version in use, though. I assume the Pro is pretty good too, if ever needed.

Claims to be migrate plugin, but you have to pay, no product arrives

It claims to be a backup / migrate plugin, but you have to pay to migrate. I paid, never received a the "full" version. I never received any kind of download link, their phone number now belongs to a *different* company in Florida, the live chat was never "live" - just taking messages - and they didn't respond to emails at their email address. I missed my deadline with the client due to all this, tried to get a refund, and it was denied (so they cant be bothered to answer emails, but they can deny refund requests.) Total failure.
